From August 4th - August 7th, the Billings Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency responders, will be hosting a Rescue Task Force (RTF) training at Lewis and Clark Middle School. Principal Sulser has graciously agreed to host this training, and I am excited that we get to be a part.
If this is something that interests you, or if you would like to see how our response teams will operate in the event of an armed intruder in our schools. Each training day will be about 10 hours long with classroom time, breakout sessions, and scenario training, in the afternoon each day. This is where you come in. We are in need of roughly 10-15 people to be "role players" in these scenarios. Since they are in the afternoons only, the time commitment would be about 4-5 hours each day, with the same "actors" participating for all 4 days, ideally. *If you are only available to help one or two of the days, that is OK.
I want to make clear that this training will be extremely life-like/realistic, with some role players acting as wounded/walking wounded/potentially deceased. There will be a team helping with moulage/make-up, to increase the level of realism. The majority of actors will play the part of classroom students. This training may be triggering for some, and I want you to know, up front, that it will not be for everyone. In short this training will be Rated R/NC17. The same training took place at West High in July of 2024, and our goal is always to create a realistic training environment which will allow our response teams to be better equipped to handle a situation if/when it happens.
