Since April 2020, we’ve delivered joy in over 30 languages worldwide! IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR VOLUNTEERS ➙ Write friendly, one-of-a-kind letters addressed to a “Friend.” ➙ Mail your letters to our partner facilities. ➙ Commit to a destination facility only after your letters are ready to mail. ➙ Facilities list refreshes every two weeks with new requests. ➙ Expenses include postage, writing materials, and envelopes (send multiple letters in one envelope to save on postage). ➙ Not a pen pal program—most seniors cannot reply. ➙ LAI has no staff, physical office or phone. Volunteer: Elder Khaver, Visiting VolunteerKhaver means friend in Hebrew. Form new bonds as an Elder Khaver by engaging with elders in purposeful, life enriching interactions on a weekly basis. The Khaver may facilitate one-on-one activities including but not limited to: conversation, games, cards, reading, manicures, exercise, crafts, or other activities.

Volunteers should be social, energetic, able to work independently, have knowledge of or willingness to learn how to use the Wii, and be able to teach others how to play. Location: West End Campus of St. John's Time Commitment: Every Saturday, time could be adjusted per volunteer schedule but must remain regular each week. Many of our residents have stopped driving and our volunteers help to keep people mobile, primarily bringing them to doctors appointments. Volunteers will need to be able to safely drive the company Honda CR-V or 12 passenger coach; CDL NOT required!
