Removing dry food items (cans and packages) from cases and stocking shelves; stocking coolers with packaged produce and meat. Bagging bulk produce items into smaller bags.

Family Service is looking for regularly-scheduled help in our Client Choice food pantry.

Clients can utilize the food room once a week. They're free to choose their own items from whatever we have available that day, instead of receiving a pre-made box with items they might not like or know how to prepare.

We need hard workers who can do some light lifting and repetitive work stocking shelves before we open in the morning, from 8-10 am. 

Hours: M, W, F 8 am - 10 am. Ages 18 and up. Please wear closed-toe shoes. The food room can get chilly, so warm or layered clothing is best.

Volunteers will be supervised by Family Service employees.

Our thrift store provides funding for our programs. We also supply vouchers for free clothing and household items to those most in need.

Accepting, sorting, and organizing donations to our thrift store. Some non-clothing items may need light cleaning. Stocking and arranging store racks, shelves, and displays. Straightening and hanging clothes. Occasional dusting.

Donation drop-off is a covered breezeway, so please dress for the weather.

This position is very flexible and can be done any day Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Groups or individuals aged 16 and up. We request two hours or more, please.

The Montana Rescue Mission is very grateful to the companies that donate food to our homeless shelter every week. Our program would not be where it is without these gifts. We receive fruit, vegetables, meats, breads, and so much more that all help with meals for our shelter guests and their families.

MRM donations come in every Tuesday and Thursday at noon, and we need help getting these donations sorted and organized in our pantries. A couple of hours a week would be very helpful to our kitchen staff, if you're interested, please let me know as we would really appreciate your time.

The revenue from the Bargain Center goes directly to Montana Rescue Mission to help support the programs we offer our shelter guests. We provide the guest with food, shelter, clothing and offer counseling for individuals to address mental, physical, and spiritual needs. We offer instructions for life skills, addiction recovery, parenting, and much more.  We are striving to bring healing to our guests.

Through our services, we meet every individual with programs and relationships that demonstrate love and compassion and help them receive healing. But, we need your help to do our work! This is not something that we can do on our own, but takes the entire community, working together, to make a difference.

Volunteers are needed on Saturdays to help with organizing different sections of the store, tagging clothing, and getting the store ready for the holiday season too!

We will have a table set up by the exit, where customers can get a free coffee, doughnut, or hot dog (depending on the day) as well as brochures with information about the Bargain Center. Are you looking for a way to serve Tumbleweed and the youth who are at-risk in our community? Because of the pandemic, would you prefer to stay in your home while serving? This is a GREAT opportunity for you! Following the instructions attached to this post, you can make tee shirt bags in your own home and drop them off with us whenever is best for you! You can use tee shirts that you've outgrown or a pack of white tees from the store! Our youth love these bags and we give them out almost as quickly as we make them! This could be a great group project for your club or class! We appreciate your help so much!

Food Pantry Needs

Every weekday, Tumbleweed provides a hot meal for youth who stop into our Drop-In Center. We serve lunch from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM every day. The Drop-In Center is not a shelter, but it provides an important space for youth to escape the elements and, for a short time, a chance to rest and refocus. We depend on our volunteers to provide a hot and yummy meal for our youth to enjoy during this time. We especially appreciate it when volunteers sign up for a monthly commitment! This helps us set a schedule for our youth! 

We ask that meals be enough for 25-30 youth and that you drop it off at the Tumbleweed office before 10:00 AM on the day you are scheduled.
