Volunteers should be social, energetic, able to work independently, have knowledge of or willingness to learn how to use the Wii, and be able to teach others how to play. Many of our residents have stopped driving and our volunteers help to keep people mobile, primarily bringing them to doctors appointments. Volunteers will need to be able to safely drive the company Honda CR-V or 12 passenger coach; CDL NOT required! Volunteer: Hospice Volunteer
The purpose of the hospice volunteer is to perform tasks for the patient/family that the volunteer has been prepared for and has agreed to perform. This may include providing companionship and support to the patient and their family, preparing light meals or carrying out light household tasks, running errands, or providing a family member respite. Other duties could include office assistance (clerical/mailings), bereavement calls, vigil, and special events, according to a volunteer’s interests.
Location: Variable, within Yellowstone County; could include a patient’s private home, assisted living facility, or skilled nursing environment.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours weekly.
