When you give your time to ReStore, more and more resources are available to put toward preparing the homes of our partner families. That’s a big reason we rely on volunteers to power our ReStore.

At the ReStore there are many different tasks to do and because we are open six days a week we can be extremely flexible to accommodate what time works best for you!

Volunteers are needed as sorters/cleaners/pricers, donation pick-up drivers and unloaders, cashiers (age 18 and up), and sales assistants. We also recruit volunteer groups to help with store projects-this could be a great volunteering opportunity for a club, youth group, college class or more! We would like volunteers who are interested in and capable of working with the public and with a heart for the Habitat mission, “Seeking to put God’s love into action, bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.” Retail experience is not necessary.

No amount of support is too small! Volunteer for an hour or volunteer every week, come on your own or bring all your friends, and remember you don’t need any special skills to be an exceptional volunteer, just enthusiasm and the desire to help.

As the COVID-19 coronavirus impacts our community, YWCA is doing everything we can to avoid closing down services. Beginning Monday, March 16 we moved to a remote working environment. Our physical locations are closed to the public and minimally staffed, and our professionals are collaborating with each other and people who need assistance through other means—by phone, video, email, and through our online portal. Services will continue in this mode unless we are otherwise instructed by local public officials.

YWCA needs and appreciates your support more than ever!

We rely heavily on the funds raised at our events and through community donations to provide shelter, safety, housing and other services to women and children who are victims of violence and poverty. Thank you for standing with us and the people we serve in this trying time. We are here for them, and our community.

YWCA Billings

Work with children by helping them stay safe while a swim instructor is teaching life skills in a swim lesson class. Watch them progress through stroke development to possibly swim team! Safety in the water is our main goal. Having extra sets of hands in the pool with these kiddos helps the instructor focus on teaching these life skills!

Help assist with after school programs including: STEM, CATCH, rock climbing, swim lessons, games, arts and crafts, sports, tutoring and much more! (offsite locations also available)

Assist teachers with a creative and educational curriculum built for ages 3-5 year old children. Preschoolers will focus on Kindergarten readiness while also being active by participating in swimming lessons and other fun activities. It is always nice to have a few extra hands to help with projects and organization of the room.

The Billings Family YMCA has a wonderful ChildWatch Center within its walls. Members are able to drop off their children at ChildWatch while they take some time for themselves. Be a positive influence to children ages 6 weeks to 11 years of age by rocking babies, reading books, and playing games. 
ChildWatch is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Friday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. 

Enjoy time sharing experience and knowledge with youth by serving as a positive role model by teaching the fundamental basics and sportsmanship of a sport. Coaches are responsible for all aspects of directing the teams practice and play in games.

Coaches meetings with limited training is provided. It would be beneficial to have some knowledge of the sport you would like to coach. Depending on sport it may be required to have First Aid/CPR training and concussion training. We provide all of the above training for our volunteer coaches!

Helping unpack and mark merchandise; helping with special sales out of the store; helping with outreach activities

Shifts – Monday through Saturday

            10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

            1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.     

We ask for each volunteer to work a minimum of two shifts per month. This helps the volunteer keep up on the merchandise, be familiar with new merchandise and its stories, and remember POS (point of sale) procedures.

It is important that volunteers work scheduled shifts.  If you cannot work, you must call Staff and/or the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as you know you will not make it to work.

Volunteers will rock babies, read books, and/or assist with other activities based on their own skills and interests while learning about the support that families and children receive from Early Head Start centers.

Testing and cleaning small appliances from microwaves to hair dryers

You will be pricing and displaying art and craft items to be sold. Items include things like fabric, sewing machines and other arts and crafts items.

You will be going out on the truck helping or truck driver pick up donated items. Items could be couches, desks, household items. You must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

You will be going thru donations, cleaning, donations and putting them in a cart and taking them up to the store to get priced and put on the shelf.

If you enjoy newborn babies and the excitement families experience during this blessed event, you can enhance their care by providing support at the nurse’s station, answering calls and call-lights, giving directions and running errands as needed. You may even be asked to hold a newborn that needs some extra cuddling! 

Monday-Friday, 12pm-4pm

Six nights a week, 4:30pm-6:30pm, we deliver dinners on two routes to feed the homeless of Billings.  We are always in need of volunteer riders and drivers.  Drivers must be above the age of 21, have a good driving record, and driver license.  Riders can come in groups of up to 3 people.

Report Writers work in 4 hour shifts per week speaking with citizens to learn about what happened in order to complete non-emergency police reports. 

This is the perfect position for those who love to tinker; take things apart, and put them back together again. Volunteers in this position work closely with our Biomedical Engineers, testing, repairing and delivering medical equipment throughout the healthcare center. 

Monday-Friday, 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm

Work with one of the YMCA Certified LIVESTRONG Instructors to help participants achieve their individual goals after cancer diagnosis. You will work with participants at the Billings Family YMCA during their 12-week program.

Share your computer skills with novice computer users. As the world becomes more wired and the economy demands computer knowledge, many people are still learning to use a computer for the first time, or to gain confidence with basic skills.

Volunteers would have knowledge of and experience with working knowledge of PCs, Microsoft Office, Internet, as well as familiarity with the basic functions of saving and printing materials.

The Technical Services staff prepares new library materials for the shelves, and works with existing materials in need of minor repairs. Assistance is required for wrapping book jackets in mylar covers, and placing barcodes and other identifying materials in library materials in all formats.

Sign up for at least one 2 hour shift per week.
Minimum 3 month commitment required.

We need a few people willing to come in from 4pm-5pm Monday-Saturday, to pack meals for community members.

We are in need of a volunteer part-time receptionist.  Hours: M, T, TR, F from 2pm-4pm, W from 9am-4pm.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to gain skills as a receptionist and build their resume.

We ask that this person be able to commit to stay on with us for at least 3 months. 

We are looking for someone who is friendly, enjoys people, enjoys helping others, has good communication skills, hard-working and a team-player.

Volunteer where you can provide comfort and information to patients' families during a stressful time in their lives. In our Surgery and ICU waiting rooms, our Volunteers are compassionate listeners, able to assist visitors and facilitate good communication between families, friends and staff.

Monday-Friday   8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm

Here Volunteers use professional skills to answer phone calls, assist staff and use various office machines. Volunteers may use computers, file, address envelopes, assemble packets, run a copier, organize materials or act as receptionist - duties depend on skill levels and office needs. Clerical Volunteers are professional and enjoy an office setting. Positions may be available in various departments such as Spiritual Care, Human Resources, etc.

Monday-Friday: varied shifts per department need and volunteer availability

We rely on the hearts of Volunteers to provide companionship and care to patients who may otherwise die alone. Compassionate Volunteers, who are companions to those alone in their dying, speak of the experience as a privilege.  This holistic event can create moments of grace for everyone involved.

4 hour on-call shifts.

The Fingerprint Specialist is responsible for fingerprinting the public for personal needs.  This volunteer will be provided training and is expected to have perfect attendance or otherwise coordinate for shift coverage with associate volunteers.  Shifts are flexible based on availability.  First come, first serve for scheduling. Shifts range from 4-9 hours once a week. 

The Cheri Nook Express is our coffee shop on wheels. Volunteers make rounds throughout the hospital, serving free coffee, tea, lemonade and cookies to families and staff. It's a great chance to make our visitors feel welcome and they in turn appreciate your kindness.
